Principal’s Message
On behalf of our students, staff and families, welcome to Cheltenham East Primary School.
Our school provides a safe, harmonious, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where both academic achievement and student wellbeing are prioritised and nurtured. We value every student as a unique individual with distinct talents, interests and needs, and we work to ensure all learners feel supported, respected and empowered.
Cheltenham East Primary School is a high-performing school, with NAPLAN data consistently at or above network and similar school benchmarks. Our teaching and learning programs align with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, and our dedicated teachers use innovative, evidence-based instructional approaches in Literacy and Numeracy. We also place strong importance on the full breadth of the curriculum, including Humanities, the Arts, Science, Physical Education and Italian.
We are committed to inclusive practices, ensuring all students are supported to meet their individual learning needs, and we proudly celebrate and respect the cultural diversity within our community. Our school values, ‘Respect, Responsibility, Courtesy and Co-operation’, guide how we learn, interact and contribute positively to our school and beyond. We strive to develop socially capable, confident and resilient young people.
Cheltenham East enjoys a strong sense of community, with many opportunities for families to be involved in school life. Classroom support, excursions, School Council, parent/carer and teacher meetings, social events and working bees all contribute to our vibrant and connected school culture. Our active Parents’ Committee leads a successful fundraising program and coordinates a wide range of engaging community events.
We maintain an open-door communication policy, welcoming feedback and working closely with families to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child.
I warmly invite prospective parents and students to visit our school, and I look forward to partnering with you in your child’s educational journey.

CEPS Success Story
Cheltenham East Primary School
Cheltenham East Primary School is a vibrant and welcoming community where learning, wellbeing, and inclusion sit at the heart of everything we do. Our staff take pride in knowing each student as an individual and in creating a school culture where every child feels valued, supported and motivated to achieve their personal best. We centre our work on our four strong core values: Courtesy, Respect, Cooperation and Responsibility. These guide our approach to teaching, behaviour and community engagement, helping us to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where all students, and their families, belong. Strong leadership, exceptional teachers, and a highly involved parent community all contribute to the positive and successful environment at our school.
Our teaching is shaped by the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0 and informed by the Science of Learning, ensuring that instruction is purposeful, explicit and carefully sequenced. Students benefit from clear, structured teaching routines, opportunities for guided and independent practice, and regular feedback that helps them build strong and lasting understanding. This approach supports the consistently high academic results seen at our school.
We offer a wide range of specialist programs that broaden student learning, including Italian, Visual and Performing Arts, Science and Physical Education, providing pathways for students to discover strengths and develop new interests.
Creating positive and predictable classroom environments is a priority for our school. Teachers embed Positive Classroom strategies to build respectful relationships, set high expectations and support students to engage confidently in their learning. Our long-standing “CEPS Kids are Friendly Kids” program complements this work by promoting kindness, cooperation and strong social skills across the school.
We proudly celebrate the cultural diversity within our community and are committed to inclusive practices that ensure every learner’s needs are recognised and supported. Students are encouraged to embrace differences, show empathy and contribute to a respectful and collaborative school culture.
We have strong working relationships with several local Kindergartens and Early Childhood settings. Our school offers ‘School Experience’ sessions throughout the year for all prospective Foundation families. These sessions provide an opportunity for children to engage with our teachers through fun and exciting activities. We then offer a formal transition program in Term 4 for enrolled Foundation students.

School Values
Our Core Values of Courtesy, Respect, Co-operation and Responsibility guide how we teach, learn and interact with each other at Cheltenham East Primary School.
Through the delivery of quality programs, children will excel and realise their potential in a safe, caring and supportive environment, which encourages a positive attitude to learning. Cheltenham East Primary School recognises the importance of the partnership between children, staff, parents and the wider community.
Teachers, parents and children have a shared vision where courtesy, respect, co-operation and responsibility are the basis of relationships throughout the community. The school supports the development of lifelong learners, who are encouraged and rewarded in their endeavours to achieve optimal success. By providing challenging, stimulating, purposeful opportunities for all, students are encouraged to build confidence, persistence, assertiveness and determination. Inclusivity is valued through friendship and working cooperatively, accepting individual differences and acknowledging the efforts of others. Teaching and learning at Cheltenham East Primary School encourages students and staff to consider and explore a range of ideas and strategies in the pursuit of success.
