Our School
Principals Message
On behalf of the teachers, ancillary staff and the school community, I extend to all our parents and children a very warm welcome and sincerely hope that your association with our school will be a happy and productive one. At Cheltenham East we have a committed staff, who work hard to make our children’s schooling positive and enjoyable. The teachers and parents have an excellent rapport and work together in all areas. At Cheltenham East Primary School we offer a comprehensive education based on a combination of traditional and modern methods.
Our experienced and vibrant staff is dedicated and committed to a philosophy that all students receive a high quality education. Programs supported by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) including Early Years Literacy and Numeracy, Literacy, Numeracy, CEPS Kids are Friendly Kids – our social skills program, Italian, Music, Library, The Arts, Humanities, Science and Technology, Information and Computer Technology (ICT) and Physical Education are part of the normal daily routine. Sessional music programs are also available. The outstanding Music program offered develops the children’s skills in the performing arts.
As you walk around our school, you will see evidence of the excellent resources set within extensive and attractive grounds. In 2011 we opened our newly rebuilt second wing and the main building was renovated in 2009, to accommodate flexible learning spaces. All classrooms are air conditioned and heated. The school hall is used for assemblies, performing arts and physical education.
A very active parent group complements the teachers through the School Council, Parents Committee and CHATS, (our group of fantastic parents who support the teachers and the children in the classrooms). Many opportunities are made available to the parents for educational and information evenings. Cheltenham East Primary School values the community involvement in educational and social occasions. An excellent Out of Hours School Care program is well organised by highly competent staff from Camp Australia.
Safe parking facilities are provided with no traffic problems. Cheltenham East Primary School is a caring, sharing school that is setting a fine academic standard with a well balanced program catering for the individual child’s needs. If you have any queries that you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to approach me. My office door is always open.

Cheltenham East Primary School
Cheltenham East Primary School (CEPS) is situated in a quiet pocket of residential Cheltenham and draws it’s students from neighbouring kindergartens and day care centres. Our enthusiastic, dedicated staff provide a stimulating environment for our students who are continually encouraged to uphold our school motto of “Aim High”. Social and communication skills as well as values are inherent across our Victorian Curriculum, driven by our “CEPS Kids are Friendly Kids” programme. The Cheltenham East parent community is most supportive of the school and the implemented programmes, as is evidenced by our CHATS program (Class Helpers and Teacher Support).
Our curriculum engages students in their learning, exploring and explaining the topic through the use of technology. We have specialist teachers in Art and Music, with private instrumental tuition available. Student’s work is displayed throughout the school. Children participate in an annual concert and Wakakirri (Australian-wide Storydance competition) is held every other year. A physical education specialist teaches classes weekly. A Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) is conducted in Foundation and Year 1 with parental support.
CEPS is over 60 years young and has undergone much re-modelling in recent years. This will be further enhanced by Government grants providing us with flexible attractive work spaces to facilitate student learning, preparing students for living in the 21st Century.
