The enrolment process at Cheltenham East Primary School is a very simple one.  An enrolment form must be filled in and signed.  The only documentation parents of children enrolling in a Victorian state school for the first time must produce is evidence of date of birth of the child concerned and his/her immunisation certificate, which is obtained from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register.  Children who are not Australian citizens are required to provide a copy of their current visa.

Please note that children enrolling in the Foundation year must be at least 5 years of age by the 30th of April in the year in which they enrol.

Foundation 2021 Enrolment Information

In response to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the school is currently unavailable for public meetings.  Following the advice from Department of Education Victoria, this will continue to be the case until further notification. Therefore we are unable to conduct tours until current restrictions, which apply to individuals and groups of people, are lifted.

We have planned for 4 Remote Transition Sessions to run in Term 4, for enrolled children. Information will be emailed to enrolled families directly. These sessions will help connect your child and your family with the faces, spaces and routines at school. This new initiative is in response to the set of conditions that COVID-19 brings. We are prepared for any challenge we are faced with – both learning onsite and offsite. This first introduction through the Transition phase, will help ease your family into what some of the learning experience could look like in 2021.

Transition to School

Each year, a transitional program, “Foundation Friends” is offered throughout the year for kindergarten children, which is conducted over a number of weeks. This includes opportunities for children to meet their Buddies, participate in school learning activities, meet their teachers and in general become familiar with the school environment in a confident and happy way.

In 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have run a parent forum in August, ‘Meet the Teacher’ meeting in Sept and 4 x Transition Sessions commencing in Term 4. We encourage parents who have enrolled their child, to access the remote sessions (running in Oct and Nov), via their email inbox in Sept. When restrictions permit, we will welcome our newest community members face to face on our school site.
